National competition opportunities include The Sports Selling Competition, The Pro-Am Sell-A-Thon®, The Case Study Competition, The Interview Competition, and The National Speakers Competition.

College Students
Current student members of PSE and those college students who are interested in learning more about PSE, and who wish to compete, build a social and professional network, and meet future employers are encouraged to attend.
Educators
Engage with other sales and marketing educators during the National Conference in Sales Management (NCSM), observe sales and marketing student competitions that foster skills development, and meet industry professionals and employers representing more than 30 companies.
Industry Professionals and Employers
Gain exposure to, engage and influence a pool of skilled and qualified early-career candidates representing college campuses across the US. You will also have access to sales & marketing educators.
Faculty Advisors
Connect with other faculty advisors, industry professionals, and PSE alumni to exchange ideas and collaborate. Listen to members to gain insights and tools to better support and guide student members in their professional and academic growth through PSE. Discover successful strategies from other chapters that can be implemented to improve your own chapter's operations. Access materials and resources that can aid in developing and operating your PSE chapter.
Alumni
Attend general sessions, judge your favorite National Awards Program Categories or Individual Competitions, and connect with fellow PSE alumni and corporate members for personal and professional networking. 18 Ways to Secure Funding to Attend the PSE National Convention!
Apply for a National Organization Scholarship: Check for any scholarships or travel funds offered by the national organization to help cover convention registration, travel, or accommodation expenses.
- Future Leaders (must be a freshman or sophomore)
- SMEF (Must attend a school in Wisconsin; 2-5 awards per Wisconsin chapter!)
- PSE Convention Scholarship (all students are eligible)
- Contact Your School’s Activities Office: Request funding or a travel grant to attend the national convention. Explain how attending will bring recognition to the campus and benefit the academic programs.
- Reach Out to the Dean of the School of Business: Present the opportunity to attend the convention and its value in terms of enhancing the school’s reputation, student engagement, and academic programs. SAMPLE LETTER
- Speak to the Marketing Department Chair: Emphasize how the event will provide networking and hands-on experience that could boost the reputation of the marketing department, as well as individual student success. SAMPLE LETTER
- Consult the Sales Program Director: Highlight how attending and competing at the convention aligns with the program’s goals and can bring national attention to the program's quality and achievements. SAMPLE LETTER
- Ask Family and Friends for Financial Support: Explain the potential impact of attending the convention on your professional development and future career. Consider setting up a crowdfunding page for this purpose.
- Create an Easy Donation Portal for Alumni Contributions: Set up a page for alumni to donate funds, explaining how their contribution will support the professional growth of current students and the success of the chapter.
- Apply Chapter Funds and or Credits from PSE HQ: Check with PSE HQ to see if your chapter has a credit on your account. If so, this credit can be applied to convention registrations. Also, if your chapter maintains a balance in your chapter account, apply some of the funds to active/engaged students who wish to attend convention.
- Apply for a National Organization Scholarship: Check for any scholarships or travel funds offered by the national organization to help cover convention registration, travel, or accommodation expenses.
- Request Airline Miles or Hotel Points from Family and Friends: Ask loved ones who have accumulated miles or points if they would be willing to donate or lend them to cover travel and lodging costs.
- Organize a Chapter Fundraiser: Plan a fundraising event (e.g., bake sale, car wash, or silent auction) or a service-based project that can generate funds to help cover the costs of attending the convention.
- Save a Portion of Personal Spending: Commit to saving a small amount (e.g., $25) per week from your discretionary spending for several months leading up to the convention.
- Apply for a Departmental or Club-specific Travel Grant: Many departments or student organizations have their own travel grants for academic conferences and competitions. Inquire about any opportunities through your chapter or faculty.
- Seek Funding from Chapter Corporate Sponsors and Local Businesses: Approach local businesses or companies in the industry related to sales and marketing. Offer to represent their brand during the convention, and in exchange, ask if they would be willing to sponsor your attendance.
- Partner with a Classmate or Peer: Team up with a fellow member of your fraternity and share travel or accommodation costs. You may be able to split the costs of transportation, hotel, and meals, making the trip more affordable.
- Take Advantage of Campus or Regional Grants: Check with the campus research or student affairs office for any regional or university-wide grants or funding opportunities for academic and extracurricular events.
- Leverage Social Media for Fundraising: Use platforms like GoFundMe, Facebook, or Instagram to create a campaign that shares your story and the benefits of attending the national convention. Include compelling reasons why supporting you would benefit the community or chapter.
- Crowdsource from Fellow Students: Organize a peer-to-peer crowdfunding initiative, where fellow chapter members and students contribute smaller amounts to help cover the costs. This could also help build a sense of solidarity within the chapter.
By combining a mix of these funding strategies, you’ll increase the chances of securing enough money to attend the national convention. The key is to start early, make a compelling case for why it’s an important opportunity, and be persistent in reaching out to all possible sources of support.
